We keep this short because we collect little. There are no accounts, no comments and no ads. The only form is the optional newsletter sign-up.

Who runs this site

CrushRated (crushrated.com) is responsible for this site and decides what it collects. For anything about your data, email [email protected].

Stored in your browser

  • Age confirmation: when you click “I am 18 or older” we save the date in your browser's local storage under cf-age-18 for one year. It stays on your device and is not sent to us. It is not a cookie.
  • Recently viewed: the last profiles you opened (up to eight app names) are kept in local storage under cr-seen so the home page can offer them again. They stay on your device, are not sent to us, and clearing your browser data removes them.
  • Swipe keepers: the apps you keep on the swipe page are saved in local storage under cr-likes. They stay on your device and are not sent to us.
  • Cookie choice: your Accept or Decline is saved in local storage under consent-analytics.

Page view counts (no cookies)

To learn which pages get read, each page sends one short message to our own server when you leave it or switch to another tab: the page address (without anything after a ? or #), how many seconds the tab was on screen (up to 30 minutes), how far down you scrolled (0, 25, 50, 75, 90 or 100%), phone or computer (from the window width), the kind of site that sent you (search engine, social site, AI assistant, this site, none or other; never its address), and how many links to other CrushRated pages you clicked. Come back to the tab and leave again, and the same visit is updated, not counted twice. A page that never appeared on screen sends nothing.

This works whether or not you accept analytics, because it keeps nothing on your device: no cookie, no local storage, no ID. Our server only adds each message to daily totals per page, with no record of single visits, and does not log your IP address or browser for these requests. Known bots are ignored.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are read. It sets cookies (_ga and similar) and receives your IP address and page data.

  • EU, UK, Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway: analytics stays off until you click Accept in the banner.
  • Everywhere else: analytics is on unless you click Decline (banner or “Cookie settings” in the footer) or your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, which we treat as Decline.
  • No advertising: ad storage, ad user data and ad personalization are denied everywhere, ads data redaction is on, and Google signals are off. Analytics data is not used to target ads.

Google decides which of the two rules applies from your location as its tag sees it; we don't look up your location ourselves.

Hosting and server logs

The site runs on a server we rent from OVH, and requests pass through Cloudflare, which protects and speeds up the site. Both may keep standard request logs (IP address, time, page, browser) for security and reliability. We don't use them to identify visitors.

Email

If you email [email protected], Cloudflare Email Routing forwards your message to us. We keep your message and address to reply and to record corrections. Ask us to delete them and we will.

Newsletter

The newsletter is optional. When you subscribe we store your email address, your name if you give one, and the time and IP address of your confirmation, kept as proof of your consent. We use this only to send the CrushRated newsletter: one email a week at most, and nothing at all until you click the link in the confirmation email. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link.

The list runs on our own server (self-hosted listmonk on the same OVH server, at lists.whosung.com, which we also use for our other sites), and emails go out from our own mail server, not through a mailing-list company. Requests to that server pass through Cloudflare, which protects it. The sign-up form uses ALTCHA, a proof-of-work check computed in your browser and verified by our server; it sets no cookies and loads nothing from third parties.

Other sites

Links lead to app makers and news sites that have their own privacy policies. We don't control what they collect.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data. Since we hold almost nothing about you, in most cases there is little to retrieve.

Who can use this site

It is for adults 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
